Gentlemen, we don’t even know if you get the privilege to be called that. We are angry . . . very angry. Never in our Priory careers have we seen such tragic turnouts to games as these. The soccer team, which has been playing greatly, beat Westminster twice and yet there were only six people there to see it. There is a distinct lack of underclassman presence at these sporting events and I am SICK OF IT! I am aware the football team may have caught an injury bug . . . WHO CARES! It is your obligation, YOUR DUTY to your school, to your countrymen, to go and be loud.
We cannot express the amount of disappointment we have for the ENTIRE STUDENT BODY. We are ashamed to have to walk on stage every Monday morning and say how many students went to the game. IT IS USUALLY UNDER 10! We have bribed you with free pizza, but still, no one shows up to the games. Our soccer team is on fire with two of our best players injured, and still NO ONE SHOWS UP. The football players have had to ask us to get students to attend games. This is utterly embarrassing! There shouldn’t even be a thought of if students will be there. The entire student body should be in attendance for every game! This isn’t even a question.
Let me just explain what school spirit is. The most reliable source on the internet, Wikipedia, states that, “School spirit is the sense of identity and community shared by members of an educational institution.” Our sense of identity is fading boys. Community is lacking. Our educational institution is non-existent. I am tired. On behalf of all spirit club – DO BETTER!
Just in case no one listens to us at assemblies, or checks their email, or pays attention at all: THIS WEEK IS HOMECOMING, THIS IS THE BIG ONE, the most important football game of the year. That means required attendance. Football plays at 1 p.m. on Saturday. I don’t care if you have pictures to get to . . . YOUR DATES CAN WAIT! Football is more important. Be there, be rowdy, and GET NAKED (required).
EVERY SINGLE STUDENT AND THEIR MOTHER WILL BE AT THE HOMECOMING GAME. IF THERE ARE NOT OVER 100 PEOPLE THERE, SPIRIT CLUB WILL HAVE A MEETING THERE WILL BE PUNISHMENTS AND WE WILL GET CREATIVE!!!
