In the first game of their Priory careers, the 7th grade football team stormed out to beat MICDS 24 to 22. The Ravens were perfect in the kicking game which ultimately separated them from their rivals as a MICDS missed kick was the difference in this game. Aidan Robinson led the Ravens’ offense breaking multiple 40 plus yard runs and scoring two touchdowns. The O-line held strong and gave up no sacks. Andrew Hartwager capped off Priory’s rushing attack with a touchdown of his own. The defense held at critical times, making multiple 4th down stops; the most important with less than a minute to seal the game.
Two days later, the 7th grade Ravens returned to the field but suffered a tough 24-0 loss to the Westminster Wildcats. While it was a hard loss and did not translate on the scoreboard, the Ravens’ offense did a good job moving the ball up field but ultimately fell short of the end zone. The defense played well but the Wildcats broke a few long runs and the Ravens’ defense could not quite reach the runner’s flag. The Ravens were strong against the pass with Henry Brown getting a critical interception late in the game which he returned for 25 yards. Overall it was a rough loss for the Ravens but a good learning experience for this young team just starting out.
Following the Westminster game, the 7th grade Ravens will switch to full pads and tackle football. The team is excited to start hitting, and looks forward to their revenge game against Westminster on October 14 at 8 am. Following that game, Priory 7th grade will take on MICDS again and will finish their first season at Chaminade.
