This year’s mock trial team has dedicated many hours to developing a strong case on both the defensive and the prosecution side. Our mock trial team has been guided by not only the excellent coaches but also the experienced upperclassmen. The varsity members, or Ravens, have worked diligently to develop the material that the junior varsity members, the Hawks and Eagles, used during their trials. Because of this excellent coaching and leadership from the varsity, both junior varsity teams have won their second trials on the defense, with the Hawks winning 2:1 and the Eagles winning a unanimous 3:0.
The first round of trials on the prosecution went well, however only the Ravens won their trial, finishing with a score of 3:0. The Ravens second round on the defense was a free win due to the other team seemingly forfeiting. The Ravens thus had all 6 ballots required in order to move on to the next round. The Ravens now stand to compete in regionals, a prerequisite to the state level. The journey to regionals has not been an easy one and the varsity members have put in many hours to make it happen. This accomplishment would not be possible without the guidance of the coaches, Mr Dixon, Mr. Neimann, and Mr. Dysart. Overall it has been a great year for the mock trial team and hopefully the Ravens will progress to state.
