The “Pro-Life March,” often called the “March for Life,” takes place every year in Washington, D.C. in January. This event usually coincides with the anniversary of the “Roe v. Wade” Supreme Court decision, which ignited a nationwide discussion about abortion. The march brings together thousands of activists, religious groups, and pro-life organizations who are united in their shared beliefs. Participants gather in large numbers, peacefully opposing abortion and creating an atmosphere filled with hope and determination. The event includes powerful speeches, heartfelt prayers, and personal stories that highlight the importance of life from the womb to the tomb. Its main goal is to advocate for the reversal of “Roe v. Wade” and to push for laws that protect unborn children. This march gives pro-life supporters an important platform to express their commitment to defending life at every stage.
Reflecting on my personal experiences during this past week and the past three years of involvement in the movement, I find it to be an incredibly meaningful journey. This year’s march held greater significance than ever, particularly in light of the recent legalization of abortion in Missouri. Among the poignant moments, our visit to the Holocaust Museum struck a deep chord within me, as I encountered the chilling belief held by the Nazis about the lives of disabled individuals—that their lives were deemed unworthy. This sentiment echoes in the heartbreaking choice a mother makes when she decides to end the life of her unborn child.
Throughout the march, many of the signs captured the core of our message, but two in particular resonated with me. One sign showed a mother saying, “My Body, My Choice,” and when flipped over, presented an image of a baby in the womb, contrasting, “Right back at you.” Another stood out with a humorous yet impactful image of Sid the Sloth, declaring, “No thanks, I choose life.” The day was further enhanced by the presence of JD Vance, the Vice President, choosing to make his first public appearance speaking to the youth at the pre-march rally advocating for life. He commended those fighting to keep all life sacred and inspired all of us to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
