The Priory Scholar Bowl team won the 2024 Missouri State Scholar Bowl championship. On their road to the State title, The Ravens beat SLUH and Ladue to win districts. They also sent Notre Dame High School packing back to Cape Girardeau by winning by a landslide, propelling the Ravens to the State Finals. With that momentum, Priory arrived at the campus of University of Missouri to take on three other teams in a round robin. Their first competitor was Mexico High School, who beat the Ravens in the quarter finals the year before. The Mexico Bulldogs, led by our Scholar Bowl Seniors’ worst enemy, Camden Williams, trounced the Ravens by jumping off to an early lead. Priory then blew past the other competition with big wins against Kansas City’s Rockhurst High School and Jefferson City High School. After the preliminary round, Mexico was undefeated, Priory was 2-1, Jefferson City 1-2, and Rockhurst 0-3. This set up a rematch with the first match opponent Mexico for the state title. The scholars had a team meeting before the game and of course, a prayer, then steeled themselves at the bench. The roles flipped compared to the first round, and the ravens launched to an early lead. The Ravens cruised to a decisive 460-240 upset over the Mexico team to give Priory the state title. Priory is coached by Mrs. Fisher and led by MIT-bound Yrwin Batan, and contributing in the state finals are senior Andy Behrman (Wake-Forrest commit) and juniors Andrew Broder and Charlie Schanbusch. Although they did not attend State Finals, members also on the Scholar Bowl roster throughout the year are Ben Duke, Ryan White, Carter Leyva, Thomas Rempe, Justin Nangle, Sam Kingston and Sam Faust. Congratulations to the Priory Scholar Bowl team.
