Overall, the wrestling team has had great success
this term. Although not everyone could get medals
every week, they always came back ready to work. The
8th grade core of our team was plagued with injuries
but, even though they were injured, they still came out
to support their teammates. Although Coach Archibald
demands a lot out of his Junior School wrestling team, it
was always fun to see what conditions drills he thought
of. An example of this was when he had the whole team
got into a plank and everyone ran two down and backs.
The experience of running in the little padded room is an
experience we will remember!
After a tough week of work Coach Archibald and
Coach Jennings always gave us a fun day on Fridays.
Some of the games tied in to wrestling like turtle, a
game where everyone is on all sixes while trying to pin
someone. While others promoted teamwork, such as
dodgeball. The team has had lots of fun and success.
Many of our 7th grade wrestlers had great first
seasons. Some 7th graders had to step up to fill the role
of the hurt 8th graders. The team has had lots of fun
and success with intensity-based workouts and training.
The team is ready and have been training like varsity
wrestlers. Although there have been many medals,
true success has been measured in our effort instead
of medals and achievements. The team has learned
discipline and life skills thanks to coach Archibald pushing
everyone. Wrestling is a great way to make friendships
and strong bonds. The team enjoyed the meets even
when the individual had low success. The team enjoyed
matches and everyone had exhilarating matches and a
great time. Overall, the team had a great season while
building discipline and life skills.
Special mentions directly from Coach Archibald:
Some 8th graders had to step up into the role of leading the team due to Kieran Hunkins’ injury, notably Charlie Top and G.E. Farmakis. Unfortunately Kieran hurt his neck early in the season because an illegal move by an opponent and couldn’t participate in many meets.
