Two weeks into college football, and all the talk is about Deion Sanders and his squad, the Colorado Buffaloes. Coming off of an embarrassing 1-11 season, the Buffaloes hired Deion Sanders as their new head coach. This turned the Colorado football program into a lightning rod for attention.
While the main reason for their recent popularity is because of Deion Sanders, sophomore Travis Hunter has also brought lots of attention to the Buffaloes, playing both sides of the ball at cornerback and wide receiver. Against 12th ranked TCU, Hunter played an unreal 152 snaps throughout the game while having 11 receptions for 119 yards with three tackles on defense and a crucial interception at the Buffaloes own 4-yard line.
Also attracting lots of attention is the Buffaloes junior quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. Sanders erupted for a monster game against TCU, completing 38 of 47 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns. On Saturday, Sanders dominated the Nebraska defense, completing 31 of 42 passes for 400 yards and two touchdowns.
At this pace, Colorado will have two Heisman Trophy candidates. This has only been done once since the 2006 Alabama duo, DeVonta Smith and Mac Jones.
Colorado has been nothing short of electric so far this year. Six of their remaining 10 games are against ranked opponents, so there is no doubt that they still have a lot to prove, but if they can keep this up Coach Prime and the Buffaloes may find themselves in the NCAA playoff discussion come January.
