The Mario Bros have been an iconic staple of Nintendo ever since their first debut in 1983. Throughout the years, Nintendo has delivered one game after the other. Now, however, they’ve created something new and different, exciting fans around the world: the new Super Mario Bros Movie! The movie is gorgeously animated, with amazingly intricate bits and details in every frame, whether it be a simple rock in the background or an entire castle with each brick detailed. And for diehard Nintendo fans, there are many throwbacks to the other games scattered across the film. The plot, however, is drastically different from any of the Mario Bros games, although it isn’t terrible. There are some plot holes, but I will not give any spoilers! As for the actors, they all did amazing jobs (including Chris Pratt). Anya Taylor-Joy did a terrific job as Peach, and Jack Black was the perfect fit for Bowser. However, for those upset that Charles Martinet, Mario’s original voice actor, is not voicing Mario, rest assured he is still in the movie. There are only two main reasons why the movie doesn’t automatically get a 10/10 from me: it’s only 90 minutes long, and lots of the characters don’t have enough screen time. Overall, I give the Super Mario Bros Movie a 9/10 and would watch it again. With it being the highest-grossing movie of 2023 so far and Illumination’s second-highest-grossing film of all time, I believe other fans would agree with me. Critics say otherwise, as it has gotten a low 58% on Rotten Tomatoes! However, these were the same critics who gave the Spy Kids movie a 7/10. So prove them wrong! Go watch the Super Mario Bros Movie, and give it a five star review! Because I promise you, when you see all the Mario classics jam-packed into a single movie, it will definitely be worth every cent!
