Cross Country Update

The cross country season is well underway, and despite some injuries, the Ravens have been looking solid as they inch closer to the postseason. Back in September, we attended one of the biggest meets in the state, the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, where our varsity squad, helped by standout performances from Yuri Batan and Greg Britt, placed fifth out of 35 teams in the White Division. The JV squad was no less impressive, with the mostly-underclassman group placing four runners on the medal podium. The next week, we swept the varsity, JV, and middle school races at the Priory Invitational, which was followed up by a fourth-place finish at Orchard Farm for the varsity squad.

On the individual side, senior Yuri Batan has been shining in his final season. Last Thursday, he took advantage of the fast Orchard Farm course to run a time of 16:51, becoming the third-fastest runner in Priory history. Junior Greg Britt also went out blazing at Orchard Farm, becoming only the fifteenth Priory runner to break 17:30, with a time of 17:27. The back half of the team has been improving as well, and it is shaping up to be a tight contest for the remaining varsity spots.

Looking forward, Metro League and districts are approaching quickly. With only one regular season meet left, the Ravens are dialing it in. With the top of the lineup making history, this team is more ready than ever to take our district by storm.
